Ramo, Soho

We designed and project-managed the new Ramo Ramen restaurant in central London. Located in the heart of Soho, Ramo Ramen is a Filipino-Japanese ramen house that brings together the flavours and culinary traditions of both cultures. Spread across two levels, the restaurant was carefully designed to give each floor its own distinct look and feel while maintaining a cohesive overall identity.

The existing space was thoughtfully reconfigured to maximise seating capacity while creating an intimate and welcoming dining experience. A carefully curated palette of natural materials, warm timber tones and understated finishes establishes a chic, contemporary interior that complements the restaurant’s unique culinary concept.

A defining feature of the design is our signature curved wall detailing, incorporating integrated lighting to create depth, texture and visual interest throughout the space. The bespoke wall panels were CNC-cut to achieve their precise forms and then charred on site using the traditional Japanese technique of Shou Sugi Ban. This ancient timber-finishing method introduces a rich, textured surface that adds character and authenticity to the interior.

The upper floor was designed with a more relaxed and casual atmosphere, using natural wood and a lighter colour palette to create a softer contrast with the lower level. Bespoke seating features custom-designed backrests incorporating our signature curved detailing, upholstered in a beautiful cashmere tone to introduce warmth, comfort and a refined finish.

Continuing our considered approach to materials, the decorative wall light features on the upper floor were created using timber offcuts from the wall panels below. This detail gives new life to leftover materials while extending the design language throughout both floors.

Our scope encompassed interior design, space planning and seating optimisation, bespoke CNC-cut wall panels, specialist timber finishes, integrated lighting, custom seating and upholstery, decorative lighting features, material selection and project management.

The result is a distinctive two-storey restaurant that blends Filipino and Japanese influences through thoughtful spatial planning, natural materials and bespoke craftsmanship, creating two complementary dining environments within the vibrant heart of Soho.
