Half Moon House, Marlow

A full house renovation and kitchen extension for a fun-loving, creative family in Marlow, Buckinghamshire.

At the heart of the design is a series of distinctive arched doors and windows, introducing soft, sculptural curves to the home while framing views out towards the garden. The generous glazing floods the interiors with natural light, creating a bright, airy atmosphere and a strong connection between the inside and outside.

The new extension is wrapped in timber cladding finished using the traditional Japanese technique of Shou Sugi Ban, giving the exterior a rich, textured character that complements the surrounding landscape. Inside, a bespoke kitchen forms the centre of family life, combining playful details with considered, practical design. Cleverly concealed doors are integrated into the cabinetry, leading through to a hidden pantry and utility room and keeping the main kitchen space clean and uncluttered.

Upstairs, the existing layout was reconfigured to create a new en-suite for the principal bedroom, improving both the functionality and flow of the first floor.

The result is a characterful family home that balances bold architectural details with warmth and practicality — a playful, light-filled space designed around how this family lives, creates and connects.
